I Can Do Anything You Can Do…Better Be Careful!
A lot of us are or have been guilty of following what we see someone else doing in the gym. You know the deal - You see that extraordinarily fit guy or girl performing that exercise and you figure, hey if they’re doing it and look like that, I’m going to do it and I’m going to look like that too. Not so fast my overly ambitious Blog buddies!
I am in the gym everyday and each and every time, I see 90% of the people working out, training improperly, performing crazy looking and less than effective exercises or performing exercises with terrible technique & form. Strangely enough, some of the people I see training, do all the wrong things, and they miraculously look amazing! You’d assume that they must know what they’re doing to look so good, right? Not so fast! Read the rest of this entry »
“Behind the Scenes” Interview with Rick Collins
One of the men that you can thank for this amazing blog and book is Rick Collins. I am proud to say that Rick is one of my friends and that he is truly a cool and down to earth guy. There aren’t many people that I can say would give you the shirt off their back, but Rick is one of those guys. I had the honor of interviewing him and learning who Rick Collins is as a person. Not just the lawyer and writer, but who Rick really is and what he represents. The interview at Bodybuilding.com shows where Rick has come from and some of the thing’s he’s done throughout his life and amazing career, Read the rest of this entry »
Faster Muscle Building – No More Training Plateau
Have you been on the same ole training routine/workout for a while now? If you’re not experiencing great results often, chances are that you’re training routine is stale and you’ve hit the dreaded training plateau. Well, it’s time to change up your training routine.
There are many ways to add variety to your workouts…Here are several: You can change up the exercises or change the sequence of them, try adding variety to exercises by changing the angles by which you lift i.e. traditional preacher curl angle @ 45 degrees Versus Spider Curls @ 90 degrees,
increase the weights for each exercise, slightly modify the rest between sets to challenge your metabolic threshold, and in this Blog Post, I’ll show you how to mix up the tempo (speed by which you lift and lower weight) of your reps – Let’s get right to it…
Don’t let the scale get you down

Over the past few years, scales claiming to measure body fat in addition to body weight have made a substantial showing on the shelves of specialty stores and supercenters alike. These scales, and other devices, can easily be purchased for under $100, but are they telling you the truth? Not likely, current research suggests.
Most of these scales and handheld devices use a low-level electrical current that passes from one leg or hand to the other and measures the ease which with the current can move through your body. The more muscle you have, the easier and faster the current flows, and the more fat, the slower the current travels. However, all these devices use body weight along with other factors like height, age, and gender to predict body fat with the help of the electrical current’s resistance. The problem is, without the electrical current’s help, the scales can predict body fat with these other variables alone, and body weight can account for nearly 80% of the prediction. That means that body weight is the predominant factor these devices use in predicting body fat. So what happens when you lose body fat and gain muscle, but your weight stays the same? Chances are the scale will tell you that your body fat has not changed when in fact it has. Read the rest of this entry »
True Alpha FAMILY
Childhood obesity is on the rise and with many schools looking to get rid of physical education classes because they deem them “unnecessary”. I wrote an article on CHILDHOOD OBESITY a little while back and the statistics that are out there are extremely scary.
Who is to care for our children? These are the children of our future who will run this great country one day. We are all responsible. I know you have already read Alpha Male Challenge. You have made some positive changes in your life and are living the alpha lifestyle. But why must it stop there? Read the rest of this entry »
Why You Should Be Flexing in the Mirror
We have seen this behaviour at the gym. It gets a bad rap and is the target of ridicule by most gym members. What is this devilish beast? Posing. Checking yourself out in the mirror. While you flex your guns waiting for the next round of vomit inducing preacher curl negatives to begin. Should you do it? Is there any use for it? Is it just for men?
A lot of backlash occurs in the gym world when we see people posing and flexing between sets during a workout. Meatheads, muscle freaks, posers – all terms you will hear at any gym when someone hits a double bicep or most muscular during their workout. Even if they just peel back the edge of their dri-fit shirt and pop a little bicep peak out. Just to check if it’s there.
Like many things from the bodybuilding and figure world, however, posing and flexing is actually something that has benefits but is sorely misunderstood. People think you are wasting your time and making a fool of yourself if you spend time flexing your muscles in the mirror. I am going to have to disagree.
Wake Up & Watch Your Results Skyrocket!
I recently read a brilliant post from one of our Team True Alpha members, Matt Weik, about what it really means to be “True Alpha”. His post influenced me to write a bit more about what it takes to bring out the best within a person.
It made me realize just how much of a revelation it is when a person first recognizes how they’ve long been asleep at the wheel of life. It’s easy for anyone to fall into a rut and take on a rather lackluster existence, by simply going through the motions…Not just in the gym, but in all aspects of our lives.
You can refer to this as laziness or complacency or perhaps even ignornace. Whatever it is, all I know, is that when a person finally begins to understand how much more powerful we are when we “wake up” and begin to call upon our greater potential, it’s then when we truly begin to live…it’s then when we begin to see many more positive outcomes from our efforts.
In terms of resistance training, think about how Read the rest of this entry »

Hot Girls and Loud Music
We are all looking for ways to squeeze out a little added benefit to our workouts and they can come from surprising places.
I also felt a need to justify myself after enduring a little bit of ridicule from James and Rick this week via our social friend Facebook. Apparently, listening to Britney during workouts is somewhat of a controversial activity.
But is it? Read the rest of this entry »
